  • Cold unsalted butter or margarine
  • Turmeric, curry powder, salt
  • Ice-cold water
  • Ground beef
  • Onion, garlic, Scotch bonnet (optional)
  • Thyme, allspice, paprika, salt, pepper
  • Breadcrumbs, ketchup
  • Beef broth or water
  • Vegetable oil
  • Egg (for egg wash)
  • Rolling pin, fork, baking tools

Instructions
 

  • Make the Dough: Combine dry ingredients. Cut in butter. Add cold water. Form dough and chill.
  • Cook the Filling: Sauté onion, garlic, pepper. Add beef and spices. Mix in broth, ketchup, and breadcrumbs. Let cool.
  • Shape Patties: Roll dough into circles. Fill, fold into half-moons, seal with fork.
  • Bake: Brush with egg wash. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25–30 minutes until golden.
  • Serve and Enjoy: Let cool slightly and serve with rice, plantains, or dipping sauces.
